Addictions Treatment Service

Let's face it ... substance abuse and/or gambling can be disastrous to your family, your job, your social life, and your health.

The Addictions Treatment Service offers confidential assistance to individuals 12 years of age or older who are experiencing problems with alcohol, drugs or gambling.

What kind of assistance?

  • Assessment
  • Referral to appropriate resources
  • Outpatient counselling
  • Education and information
  • Follow-up/After care

Who is the service for?
The Addictions Treatment Service is for people who are concerned about their use of alcohol, drugs, or gambling. Family and friends are encouraged to contact the A.T.S. even though they do not personally have a problem with substance abuse or gambling but are concerned about somebody who does.

Anyone can make referrals to the A.T.S. - physicians, nurses, mental health workers, employers, union officials, judges, lawyers and staff of social agencies. When making a referral on someone else's behalf please ensure the person is aware of the nature of the referral.

How does the service work?
First, a trained counsellor conducts an interview with the person to determine how alcohol, drugs or gambling are affecting a number of life areas - family and marital relationships, social relationships, education/employment, financial, health, leisure, and legal status. Then, together they develop a treatment plan which may include referrals to A.T.S. and other Community Resources.
